Anchorage AYEA (AAYEA)
![]() |
About UsThe Anchorage Chapter of AYEA was formed in 1998. AAYEA's first success was the creation of a protective pesticide policy at the Anchorage School District. AAYEA has lobbied the Anchorage Assembly on Pesticide use notification, as well as setting up idle-free zones at several local high schools to protect students from harmful emissions. In 2005 we educated peers on global warming in classrooms, both in Anchorage and traveling to Talkeetna and Fairbanks, and helped collect signatures for the Letter to our Leaders campaign. Partnering with Green Star, we set up Recycling Pilot Programs at East and West High Schools to demonstrate and collect data on recycling programs in schools, in hopes of expanding the program to other schools. This year, along with our recycling and other projects, we are working on the 3-2-1 Campaign with other chapters |
