Juneau AYEA (JAYEA)

About UsWe founded the Juneau AYEA chapter in the summer of 2003. JAYEA founded the Week Without Plastics education project, in which we partner with local businesses during the week after Earth Day to offer sustainable alternatives to plastic bags. We've also partnered with the Sierra Club on the Pump 'Em Up! campaign to educate people about tire pressure and its impact on global warming. We have done neighborhood recycling drives, and we participate in school recycling at Juneau Douglas High School. Last year we began outreach on global warming in the schools and we also presented teen signatures on our global warming petition to the Juneau Assembly. JAYEA partners with the Southeast Alaska Conservation Council on many local projects addressing forestry and land conservation issues throughout the year |
